Bar Citra Offers Cozy Drinks + Elevated Bites in Uptown St. Augustine
ST. AUGUSTINE, Florida (February 9, 2026) – Bar Citra opened at the end of 2024 with the goal of creating a cozy and modern space for the residents of Uptown St. Augustine and beyond. With a seasonal menu that features artisanal breakfast, lunch, and dinner options, hand-selected coffees, teas, beers, wines, and non-alcoholic options, Bar Citra is Rachel Gant and Andrew Deming’s tribute to eating and living comfortably and deliciously.
“Bar Citra is our homage to everything we love,” says Andrew Deming, co-owner of Bar Citra. “From the design of the interior to the branding to the menu and culinary creations, we’ve touched every component. We were deeply inspired by our travels and comforts. We wanted to create a space that felt special but approachable.”
Rachel Gant and Andrew Deming have perfected the art of working together. In 2012, they founded Yield Design Co., a design studio, label, and manufacturer that produced custom items from shelving to wedding rings to a series of French presses, a nod to the couple’s deep appreciation for coffee. Their mission at Yield was to create accessible products that maintain a high design standard. They’ve brought that same ethos to Bar Citra. When the couple sold Yield in 2022, they began exploring new professional paths, including real estate projects. When they purchased the property at 3676 North Ponce de Leon Boulevard in 2022, the mid-century complex spoke to them. “As we worked on the restoration, we began to have a very clear vision for the space,” says Rachel Gant, co-owner of Bar Citra. “It had this wonderful mix of historic charm and modern flair, the perfect canvas for our design aesthetic. We like to call it warm minimalism – purposeful, but inviting.”
The couple opened Bar Citra in December 2024. In the mornings, guests can enjoy an array of coffees, crafted with beans from Lineage Coffee Roasting, an Orlando, Florida-based specialty coffee roaster. The tea selection reads like an exotic spice box, with offerings such as Palampur Oolong, Ceremonial Matcha Latte, and Himalayan Chamomile. The kitchen creates a daily brunch menu, using their in-house sourdough to make toasts with accoutrements like seasonal jams, ricotta lime whip, and local honey; a hearty polenta bowl with jammy eggs; and a rich Spanish tortilla with layers of Yukon gold potatoes, baked with local eggs and a spicy Kewpie mayo. From Thursday through Saturday after 3 p.m., Bar Citra’s menu adds heartier options, including salads, starters, and seasonal plates such as pasta, sourdough pizza, sandwiches, and weekly specials. The café also has a full drinks menu with draft and bottled beers, zero-proof options, aperitivos, and a curated selection of wines, perfect for enjoying on the patio. Bar Citra also offers a daily happy hour from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., free wine tastings on Saturday evenings from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., a monthly wine club, and bottles to enjoy at home.
