Brighton’s Main Street Gets More Flavorful with New The Spice & Tea Exchange
BRIGHTON, Michigan (September 24, 2025)—Downtown Brighton has a flavorful addition as The Spice & Tea Exchange® of Brighton celebrates its Grand Opening on Saturday, October 11th, through Monday, October 13th. The community was able to experience the store beginning Friday, September 19th, as owners Maryanne and Phil Munroe opened the doors to their new venture just in time for the popular Destination Stars Hollow festival. Located at 322 West Main Street in Brighton, the Munroes are excited to become a part of a thriving community.
“Our focus has always been on not just joining, but supporting and enriching the local community,” says Maryanne Munroe, co-owner of The Spice & Tea Exchange® of Brighton. The couple also own a location in Rochester, MI. “We first came to Brighton for a Special Olympics event some of my students were a part of, and just fell in love with the town. To give back to the community that has so warmly embraced us, we’ll be hosting monthly Charity Shop Days, where we’ll host a charity and 10% of the proceeds from the day’s sales will be donated directly to the organization.”
Visiting The Spice & Tea Exchange® is a sensorial and interactive experience, where jars are designed to be opened and sniffed. The staff hand-mixes a wide range of traditional and signature blends in-store daily, including Phil’s favorite Italian Street Fair and Maryanne’s obsession, Florida Sunshine. Customers can also explore shelves of infused sugars, honey, olive oils, maple syrup, and over 70 of the freshest teas made with unique, high-quality leaves and aromatics. The new The Spice & Tea Exchange® of Brighton also has a tea bar that offers hot and cold pours of their loose-leaf teas. The Hometown Wholesale program allows local culinary outfitters to purchase products at wholesale rates. And with the holidays soon approaching, the shop is stocked full with gift sets and recipe bundles.
“I always say, we don’t say we have the best products because we own the store,” says Phil Munroe, co-owner of The Spice & Tea Exchange® of Brighton. “We own the store because we have the best products around. And I say that as a career chef who has managed fine dining establishments and had access to the best ingredients possible. When you walk in and see staff peeling and dehydrating fresh citrus to create our hand-mixed blends, you know it’s going to be good.”
The Spice & Tea Exchange® of Brighton will host a Grand Opening celebration Saturday, October 11th, through Monday, October 13th. They will host an official ribbon-cutting on Monday, October 13th. During the Grand Opening weekend, guests can enjoy samples, a raffle, special gifts with purchase, and more. Stay tuned to the shop’s Facebook and Instagram for updates.
