Crisp-Ellert Art Museum Presents 'Department of Visual Art Faculty Exhibition'
ST. AUGUSTINE, Florida (August 17, 2025) – The Crisp-Ellert Art Museum (CEAM) and Flagler College will present an exhibition of recent work by full- and part-time fine art and graphic design faculty in the Department of Visual Art. The exhibition, Department of Visual Art Faculty Exhibition, will be on view from September 5th – November 8th. An opening reception will be held on Friday, September 5th from 5pm to 8pm as part of First Friday Art Walk. At 6pm, several of the included artists will be on hand for an informal walkthrough of the exhibition. This event is free and open to the public.
Artists included in the exhibition are Sarah Alexander, Luke Brodersen (and Future Friends), Diana Lodi, Jenna McDonald, Russell Maycumber, Laura Mongiovi, Patrick Moser, Natalie Novak, Sara Pedigo, Bernadette Rivell, Leslie Robison, Jason Schwab, and Chris Smith as well as new faculty members Samuel Aye-Gboyin, Ida Moraghebati, and Ron Edelen. Their work encompasses painting, drawing, motion graphics, print and digital design, package design, printmaking, community-based arts, photography, sculpture, installation, and video.
“I always look forward to the faculty exhibition,” says Julie Dickover, CEAM Director. “Our visual art faculty continuously demonstrate excellence in their field. Their artistic and professional practice is deeply rooted in an intellectual curiosity, with rigorous material, conceptual and social inquiry.” Jason Schwab, Chair of the Department of Visual Art, adds, “Day in and day out, we view and discuss our student’s work, but it is rare that those tables are turned. The faculty exhibition not only gives us an opportunity to share and discuss our creative research with our students, but it also shows them we are practicing artists, designers, and art historians.”
In conjunction with the exhibition, Dr. Stephanie Hohlios, Assistant Professor of Art History, will give a lecture, “Art History as Community Engagement,” on Wednesday, October 29th at 6pm in Flagler College’s Virginia Room in the Ringhaver Student Center, 50 Sevilla Street. Dr. Hohlios’ research engages with modern and contemporary art in Japan – from painting and performance to conceptual and community-facing art projects. Her fieldwork primarily takes place in the former coal mining region of Chikuhō on the island of Kyushu in Japan.
