DRIFTERS City Bike Share Celebrates Launch With Ribbon Cutting Nov. 6

ST. AUGUSTINE, Florida (Oct. 27, 2026) – After nearly three years of planning, logistics, bike building, and meetings, DRIFTERS owner Ian Guthrie will launch his long-awaited DRIFTERS City Bike Share program with an official ribbon-cutting. Hosted in partnership with the City of St. Augustine, the ceremony will take place on Friday, Nov. 6, in the Plaza de la Constitución in Historic Downtown St. Augustine, beginning at 10 a.m. The public is invited to attend. Bikes will be available to rent at all station locations beginning Friday, Nov. 6.

“This has been such a labor of love; it means everything to see it all coming together,” shares Ian Guthrie, Owner and Operator of DRIFTERS City Bike Share and DRIFTERS Beach & Bike Rentals. “Our goal has always been to give residents, workers, and visitors an easy way to explore Downtown St. Augustine, West King, Anastasia Island, and St. Augustine Beach. By connecting these areas, we encourage riders to support local businesses, experience our city from a new perspective, enjoy the fresh air, and help ease traffic congestion along the way.”

The DRIFTERS City Bike Share program features 90 bikes custom-designed by DRIFTERS’ partners at PRIORITY Bicycles, 14 strategically placed tower stations, and up to 62 single-docking stations at participating businesses. Ten bikes will be pedal-assisted and governed to 15 miles per hour. With up to 170 docking stations supporting a fleet of 90 bikes, DRIFTERS has built a seamless, easy-to-use system that makes hopping on and docking a bike a breeze. Riders can use the DRIFTERS City Bike Share app, available now on Google Play and the Apple App Store, to see station locations, explore local partners, and more. Rental fees will be $5.50 for the first hour plus the hourly rate of $4.50 for each additional hour. Pedal-assist bikes will cost the same as regular pedal bicycles. DRIFTERS is offering special introductory pricing on its City Bike Local Passports, an exclusive membership program for St. Johns County residents. The membership includes unlimited bike rentals for the membership period and costs $90 for 6 months, then upgrades to an annual membership. Annual memberships are available at a reduced rate of $110 per year through the end of November and increase to $180 per year. A monthly passport will also be available for $18.

A major focus of the DRIFTERS City Bike Share is The Collectives, location-based groups of local businesses featured as stops along popular routes. The King Street Collective features Alfred’s, Bog Brewing Company, Ink & Barley Tattoos & Brews; the St. Augustine Collective features Bin 39, Maci’s Ice Cream, and The Kookaburra Downtown, and Stone Climbing; the Uptown Collective features Spinster Abbotts; the BLVD Collective features Old Coast Ales, Old City Public Relations, Sarbez!, St. Augustine Alligator Farm Zoological Park, and The Amp; and the A1A Collective features Cone Heads Ice Cream, DRIFTERS Rentals, The Kookaburra Beachside, Outer Banks Boil Co., and Surf Stop.
