Jacksonville Artist Kristin Cronic Celebrates Success Of “skin / bones” Exhibit
JACKSONVILLE, Florida (Feb. 2, 2026) – Jacksonville-based artist Kristin Cronic is celebrating the closing of her solo exhibit, called “skin \ bones,” at Touché Gallery in Jacksonville, on Feb. 20, with a reception from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. The show opened on Fri., Jan. 16, and as a born-and-raised Bold City native, Cronic is honored to have received such support from the local arts community after years of working as an artist and an arts educator.
“To see this body of work all up in one space is everything I envisioned it could be,” says artist Kristin Rae Cronic. “I first had the idea for this show in 2019, and it took years of experimenting to finally come to what it is today. This solo exhibition marks a direction I’m excited to continue as an artist and is, at the same time, a complete thought. It is my hope that visitors find themselves slowing down within the exhibit and looking just a little bit longer. We need that now, more than ever!”
Cronic is one of 60 artists who received a grant through The Inaugural Artist Grant Program, provided in partnership by the Cultural Council of Greater Jacksonville and the City of Jacksonville. This allowed her the time to pursue what would become “skin \ bones,” which reimagines tree forms as counterpoints to and metaphors for the human condition. Her collection of work is on display at Touché Gallery, a contemporary art gallery owned and operated by Kevin Calloway. Calloway has been a leader in bringing culture and art to Northeast Florida. In addition to owning Touché Gallery, he also serves on the Board of Trustees for the Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA) Jacksonville. Calloway is thrilled to be hosting Cronic’s collection.
“Kristin Cronic’s skin \ bones is a breathtaking triumph of contemporary painting—a profound and unflinching body of monumental works that excavates tree forms into psychological portraits of vulnerability, resilience, interconnectivity, and growth,” reveals Kevin Calloway, owner and operator of Touché Gallery. “Rendered on raw, unstretched canvas with gestural honesty and commanding scale, these paintings stand as quiet rebellions against the shallowness of modern life, inviting us to reclaim our own tenderness and interconnected power. The immersive installation creates a rare sanctuary for slowness and genuine reflection. The opening was nothing short of amazing, drawing a vibrant crowd that lingered long into the evening, captivated by the work’s emotional depth and tactile wonder. In an era of distraction, this is painting that stops time and reawakens the soul.”
“skin \ bones” is on display at the Touché Gallery, 4070 Herschel Street, Suite 3, in Jacksonville, through Friday, Feb. 20, 2026, when Cronic will celebrate the exhibit closing with a reception, open to the public, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
