Port In The Storm Raises Nearly $20k At Mini Golf Tournament Fundraiser
ST. AUGUSTINE, Florida (March 6, 2026)—Port in the Storm hosted its 7th Annual Swing into Action fundraiser on Monday, March 2, at Fiesta Falls Miniature Golf, raising nearly $20,000 to benefit the homeless youth at Port in the Storm. Players enjoyed beautiful St. Augustine Beach weather while playing a competitive round of miniature golf, eating a cookout-style lunch, and contributing to a silent auction and 50/50 raffle. Participants could also purchase mulligans for a chance to improve their scores.
“We’re so glad that so many members of our community came out to support Port in the Storm,” says Joy Case, Director of Development at the St. Augustine Society, Inc. “Every child deserves warmth, stability, and support. This fundraiser helps us offer safe shelter for unhoused teens, giving them the tools to help create a future.”
Players and foursomes could register to compete in one of two rounds. The St. Augustine Police Department was named champion of Round 1, with the Kiwanis Club of St. Augustine winning Round 2. Awards were presented for Best Dressed, which went to Chix with Stix and the Hula Skirts, and Best Team Spirit, which went to St. Patrick’s Episcopal and the Kiwanis Club of St. Augustine. Swing into Action was thankful for the outpouring of community support and involvement. Scott Rock, Board Chair for St. Augustine Society, Inc., served as event emcee and DJ. St. Augustine Beach Mayor Beth Sweeny kicked off the event's lunch with welcoming words, while Mike Mattson, the Golf Pro at the Palm Valley Golf Club, was on hand to give players pointers and kick their putting skills up a notch.
“We’re so thankful for Lauren Ringhaver and Rich O’Brien of Fiesta Falls Miniature Golf,” says Case. “They’ve been such dedicated champions of Port in the Storm. We’re also so thankful for the support of Scott Rock. Not only is he our Board Chair, but his company, ROCKIT Solutions, was our top sponsor.” Other sponsors include Localiq/The Record, Taylor, Waldrop & Pribisco, Johnson Investment Counsel, UFHealth St. Johns, SouthState, Silver Feather Jewelry & Gifts, B & S Signs, Old City Public Relations, Danielle Svec, Mowrey Law Firm, Watson Title Services, Inc., Naval Academy Alumni, Ancient City Farmstead, and Kiwanis Club.
In 2025, Port in the Storm sheltered 106 and permanently housed 24 youth. To continue its critical work, Port in the Storm needs continued support. This year, they are encouraging those interested to become monthly “keyholders” through a $19/month donation that helps Port in the Storm provide safe shelter to those in need. “Safe shelter means more than a bed for the night,” continues Case. “It means a nutritious meal, the chance to truly rest, and the space to step out of survival mode to work on a plan that moves them from surviving to building a stable future.”
